Welcome to the Club - Jump in and enjoy it !

Welcome to the web site of The Rotary Club of Swansea Bay. We hope you find it helpful and informative and that it dispels any preconceptions you may have about Rotary Clubs. If you are interested, we always welcome new members. In particular, please visit the Cycle Ride page for an update on our exciting  fund-raising event for the summer of 2008

Rotary is an international network of local Rotary Clubs. The purpose of Rotary is to raise money for a large variety of charitable causes while also having fun. The social element of Rotary is very important. Contrary to a common misconception, members are not all male, old and middle-class (well, some are) - Swansea Bay Club especially contradicts this image.

The charities we raise money for are well-known and less well-known local, national and international charities. All have been scrutinised as having a good record of putting a high proportion of their income where it is supposed to go, with low overheads and staff payments.

We raise money usually by a variety of fund raising events such as concerts, balloon races, auctions, bucket collections, and sponsored events.

The social side includes visits to restaurants, pubs, clubs, concerts and the theatre, dinner parties and weekends away.

As a Rotarian you are a member of an international organization with clubs all over the world. There are two million members world-wide; in Britain there are three thousand clubs, with one hundred thousand members. As a Rotarian you can attend the meetings of any club in the world and will be welcomed.
